Year 6 is a very important year for our pupils as they prepare for SATs and for their secondary school. The children will be taught the skills they need to achieve their best through three exciting topics. In the Autumn term we focus on Inventors and Innovators looking closely at those who have masterminded and created some of the useful things we now use. In the Spring term we focus on War Horse by Michael Morpurgo and learn what life was like during World War 1. Finally, in the Summer term we finish our year with the Ancient Greeks and read Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief.
Ways to support learning at home
You can support your children at home by regularly doing the ‘basics’ with them: reading daily, practicing the weekly set spellings and regular times tables practice are all very useful and feed into most other areas of our learning. As well as this take a look at our basic maths skills to see how you can support your child progress through the targets set.
